The Metuchen First Aid Squad was established in 1948 and continues to provide free ambulance service to the residents of Metuchen and surrounding communities. While we are often referred to as The Metuchen First Aid Squad, we are recognized by the Boro of Metuchen as the Metuchen Safety Council.

The Metuchen First Aid Squad is incorporated in the State of New Jersey. We operate independently and are not run under the auspices of the municipality. We are managed by a Board of Trustees comprised of squad members.

The main source of our income is derived through donations. We supplement our income throughout the year by sponsoring various fund-raising activities including Breakfast with Santa, an annual fund drive and hall rental. Click here to find out more about our Hall Rental.

All members of the Metuchen First Aid Squad volunteer their time and are not paid or compensated. Our remuneration is the great satisfaction derived from helping our neighbors by providing a viable community service.

There are three ways to volunteer:

  1. The Metuchen First Aid Squad Cadet Program – for ages 16-18 (if you are older than 18 and are interested in more information, please contact us)
  2. The Metuchen First Aid Squad Certified EMT Program – for NJ-State Certified EMTs
  3. The Metuchen First Aid Squad Auxiliary – for those not interested in providing pre-hospital care
